It hasn't been a particularly pleasant Australia Day today. Bushfires all over. Three people have died so far, and more than 130,000ha – that's an area bigger than Hong Kong – have been destroyed along with homes and property, while more than 59,000 sheep and cattle have been killed. Why do people live in bushfire-prone areas and not make their places bushfire-safe? Sometimes you can't avoid freak weather conditions, but in Victoria we know that the North wind brings bushfire every summer.
What is Australia Day? and what is Reconciliation?
